The background
Aibel is a leading provider of EPCI services (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation) who designs, builds, and maintains platforms and other critical infrastructure for the energy industry. The company is one of the largest suppliers of innovative and sustainable solutions on the Norwegian continental shelf.
In addition, Aibel holds strong positions within the European offshore wind industry and in the electrification of offshore oil and gas installations and onshore processing plants. 5,300 employees work at the company’s offices in Norway, Thailand and Singapore. Aibel owns modern yards in Haugesund, Norway and in Laem Chabang and Map Ta Phut, Thailand, with significant prefabrication and construction capacity.
When Aibel renovated its Oslo office in 2024, the company saw an opportunity to rethink how its people work and collaborate. Its goal was to create a modern and more sustainable workplace that seamlessly connects its global workforce without driving up costs. In 2024, Aibel engaged Kinly as its trusted technology advisor to design, integrate and support AV technology across its newly renovated premises.
The solution
Kinly designed and delivered a full AV transformation across Aibel’s four office buildings, covering more than 90 meeting spaces of all shapes and sizes. Wherever possible, existing AV equipment was reused, refurbished or repurposed. This reduced waste and supported Aibel’s strong environmental ambitions while still delivering high performance.
From small huddle spaces with smart docking stations to large executive boardrooms, multipurpose auditoriums and social lounge areas, every room was designed for intuitive use and seamless collaboration. Built on a foundation of
standardised Microsoft Teams Rooms powered by Logitech video solutions, Aibel now benefits from a consistent user experience across all buildings. In addition, we designed and integrated two multipurpose auditoriums equipped with two large Sharp/NEC LED screens to support a variety of internal and external events.
Kinly’s Norwegian and Dutch teams worked in close collaboration, combining local knowledge with international expertise to deliver an additional meeting
hub outside of the project scope comprised of 26 connected rooms and shared lounge areas. To keep everything running at peak performance, Kinly also provides proactive lifecycle management, security updates and industry-leading support services with a four-hour SLA. This ensures Aibel’s teams always have reliable, secure and sustainably designed collaboration technology at their fingertips.
The result
Working to strict deadlines, the project was delivered on time and over the summer holiday period to minimise disruption, the project has transformed Aibel’s Oslo office into a state-of-the-art workplace fit for the future. Employees now enjoy a consistent and easy-to-use meeting experience across all spaces.
