More about this position
As a Principal Test Engineer you use your knowledge of testing to influence better software design, promote good engineering practice, bug prevention strategies, testability, security, scalability and reliability.

You are also responsible for:

  • Defining and reviewing test conditions for given requirements, reviews and designs test cases/test scripts and supporting data, working to the functional and non-functional specifications provided;
  • Taking ownership for design, implementation, evolution and execution of testing strategy;
  • Providing reports on progress, risks and issues associated with the overall project;
  • Mentoring and guiding team members in adopting best practice approaches;
  • Providing specialist advice to support others;
  • Being an advocate for quality, influencing the team to build quality into the release pipeline while always seeking to increase productivity by choosing the best test approach for each context.

What do you bring?
As a Principal Test Engineer you have at least ten years of experience in software development, with at least five in a test role and team lead. You have, formal or informal, IT leadership experience (e.g. team lead, technical lead, technical project lead or similar). In this role you are not only managing the technology, but also the people who work with the technology. We are looking for someone who has situational leadership skills, is a strong communicator and is able to manage up and down. A technical master’s degree would be a plus, but is not required.

You also have:

  • Deep understanding of development processes and practices, like Scrum, XP, CI/CD;
  • Deep understanding of software engineering in testing practices like fuzzy testing;
  • Professional knowledge of automation testing tools and procedures, like Selenium or BrowserStack;
  • Professional knowledge of related fields, like security, networking, etc.
